about

This tracks is available exclusively on Bandcamp.

These tracks were recorded between 2006 and 2019 and were not included on any CDs or records.

The songs are difficult to categorize into any specific genre, but I still enjoy them greatly.

I don't like to listen to music that is categorized into genres.

One of the reasons I chose the name Twoth is because it means the ultimate copycat.

Usually, the term "copycat" has negative connotations, but I ask this question: what is an original? What does it mean to be the first? Is it wrong to learn by imitating others? Is there a reason why music must fit into a specific genre? With these thoughts in mind, I chose the name Twoth.

When I made my debut on February 25th, 2006, the following review was written:

"Sounds like insects you've never seen before are dancing inside your speakers. Twoth's music is like nothing else." - Koichi Tagami

This comment, "Sounds like anything and everything, but like nothing else," has been my karma ever since.

My artistic style is something I create out of my own preference, but I still feel the burden of not fitting into any particular genre.

I was born in Tokyo and raised in Japan.

Because of this, I feel a little uncomfortable with an artistic style that follows a Western context.

In the Western art scene, where ideas that deviate from the artist's style are not easily accepted, I feel a sense of confinement. On the other hand, although it may be weak from a business perspective, I feel that the atmosphere in Japan and Asia in the past was more relaxed.

The painter Katsushika Hokusai painted everything from landscapes to erotic images.

One thing that stands out to me about Hokusai is that he changed his name 30 times.

Rather than changing my name, I have a strong desire to be an artist who can show many different styles.

When I look at the history of Hokusai, I feel that even if he changed his name, he could not escape his own karma, which is something we share.

This year, Twoth will turn 17 years old.

In the future, I want to blend modernity and the wisdom of our predecessors to create an artistic style that fits with our lives, rather than creating disposable works.
